WHAT IS IT

What is TradingView to MetaTrader Automation?

TradingView to MetaTrader automation allows you to connect your custom indicators and strategies directly to your MT4 or MT5 broker account using webhooks. When an alert fires in TradingView, Copygram receives it and places the trade on MetaTrader automatically, at any hour. Unlike traditional trade copiers that require an Expert Advisor (EA) and a constantly running Virtual Private Server (VPS), Copygram uses a 100% cloud-based API architecture. This means your trades execute without you ever needing to open your MetaTrader terminal.

TradingView alert format for MetaTrader

There is no strict JSON schema: Copygram's AI works out the intent from the fields you send. The more fields you include, the more predictable execution is. Plain-text commands like close EURUSD also work.

{
  "action": "sell",
  "symbol": "GBPJPY",
  "volume": 0.01
}
Minimal market order. Copygram fills in the rest.
{
  "action": "buy",
  "symbol": "XAUUSD",
  "volume": 0.10,
  "sl": 2330.50,
  "tp": 2365.00,
  "signal_id": "tv_102938"
}
Open with stops and an ID. The signal_id lets later alerts manage this trade.
{
  "action": "close",
  "signal_id": "tv_102938"
}
Close that trade. Reuse the same signal_id.
Alert fields
FieldPurposeExampleNeeded
action What to do: open, modify, close, close half, move SL to breakeven "buy" Recommended
order_type Direction and order type "BUY LIMIT" Recommended
symbol Instrument to trade "GBPJPY" Recommended
volume Lot size or contracts 0.01 Recommended
entry Entry price, mainly for pending orders 185.250 Optional
sl Stop loss price 184.800 Optional

Supported order types

  • BUY
  • SELL
  • BUY LIMIT
  • SELL LIMIT
  • BUY STOP
  • SELL STOP

The signal_id rule

You only need a signal_id to modify or close a specific trade later. The opening alert defines it and every later alert for that trade reuses it; let your strategy generate a unique ID per trade.

FAQ

TradingView to MetaTrader — Frequently Asked Questions

We’ve gathered all the important info right here. Explore our FAQs and find the answers you need.

How do I connect TradingView to MetaTrader?

Setup takes less than two minutes. Log into your Copygram dashboard, link your MT4 or MT5 account via our secure cloud API, and copy your unique webhook URL. Paste this URL into any TradingView alert, and your trades will execute automatically.

Do I need to install an EA or rent a VPS?

No. Unlike PineConnector and traditional copiers, Copygram is 100% cloud-based. You do not need to install an Expert Advisor (EA), keep your PC running, or pay for a VPS. We connect directly to your broker's server.

Does Copygram require a specific webhook JSON format?

No. Copygram uses AI to parse any webhook format. Whether your TradingView alert sends plain text or a custom JSON payload, our AI understands it and executes the trade. No rigid syntax rules required.

Does it work with both MT4 and MT5?

Yes. Copygram fully supports both MetaTrader 4 and MetaTrader 5. You can even route a single TradingView alert to both MT4 and MT5 accounts simultaneously.

Will my prop firm know I am using a trade copier?

Copygram includes a MetaTrader Comment feature that lets you customize the trade comments sent to your broker. This makes your trades appear as manual entries, helping you maintain compliance with prop firm rules on platforms like FTMO or FundedNext.

What if my broker uses different symbol names than TradingView?

Use the Symbol Mapping feature. If TradingView sends an alert for "GOLD" but your broker uses "XAUUSD", simply map GOLD → XAUUSD in your receiver settings. Copygram will automatically translate it for every trade.
